About

Don and I have been riding together for approximately fifteen years. We mostly just day ride on the occasional weekend, although our average local ride is usually in the 250 mile range. We try to make a long weekend in the mountains of North Carolina at least once or twice a year. And we have done a little dual-sport riding together as well. Don and I have both been riding a long time and have hundreds of thousands of miles under our belts. We have similar ability and like a similar pace (that is a hard combination to find). The trip to Newfoundland-Labrador was our longest trip together to date.

Derek – I have been riding for about 40 years, with 36 of those on the street. I’ve owned mostly sport-tourers with my most recent bike a Suzuki Bandit 1250. The Tiger is my first adventure style motorcycle, but loving it so far. I also have a KTM 450 XC-W in the stable.

Don – Don spent his younger years in south Florida running with the sport bike crowd. He rode a Suzuki GSX-R 1100 and was the bike he owned when he moved to the Louisville area. Many bikes have come and gone. He was rolling a BMW 1100RT out of the garage one day when I was riding by and I circled back for a chat. Don has traveled much of the lower 48 States and has a couple of month-long excursions under his belt (shout-out to Todd for making those happen). He also owns a Honda ST1300 and makes a trip to Colorado every summer to see family.

Special Thanks – We would really like to thank the very special women in our lives, Shelly and Dianne, who not only support and understand our passion, but often encourage it as well.
